Choose an illustrator and design the elementary pages and some inside pages of a book about his/her works.
ANALYSIS:
Illustrator Kelly Smith creates feminine beauty illustrations with pencil. She uses colors only very selectively and reduced.
Her artist name is "Birdy & Me", which is a reference to the drama film "Birdy" (1984) and the novel of the same name (1978) by William Wharton.

Execution:
A hardcover book with a dust jacket was designed, which not only protects the book itself, but also, in a figurative sense, the fragile beauty of the drawings.
The headings on cover and spine of binding and dust jacket are made of mirror foil, as is the entire endpaper, in which readers can look at themselves and their surroundings and thus also become part of the beautiful pictorial story themselves.
The binding of the book is made of gray nappa leather (particularly supple smooth leather), which not only harmonizes visually as well as haptically with the illustrations, but at the same time also picks up on the fashion style of the drawings.
The layout and typography compliment the filigree pencil drawings. The "Futura Std" font family in a gray hue blends beautifully.
Allusions to the film and novel "Birdy" were incorporated.
Ausführung:
Konzipiert wurde ein Hardcover-Buch mit Schutzumschlag, der nicht nur das Buch selbst schützt, sondern im übertragenen Sinne auch die fragile Schönheit der Zeichnungen.
Die Headlines auf Cover und Buchrücken von Einband und Schutzumschlag sind aus Spiegelfolie, ebenso wie das gesamte Vorsatzblatt, in dem die Leserinnen und Leser sich selbst und ihre Umgebung betrachten können und so auch selbst zum Teil der schönen Bildgeschichte werden.
Der Einband des Buches besteht aus grauem Nappaleder (besonders geschmeidiges Glattleder), das nicht nur optisch sowie haptisch mit den Illustrationen harmoniert, sondern gleichzeitig auch den Fashion-Style der Zeichnungen aufgreift.
Das Layout und die Typografie komplimentieren den filigranen Bleistiftzeichnungen. Die Schriftfamilie "Futura Std" in einem Grauton fügt sich wunderbar ein.
Anspielungen auf den Film und Roman "Birdy" wurden eingearbeitet.
